23 Dec Christmas Detox Juice
If your holiday meal gatherings are anything like mine, most of the food being made is full of white carbs, heavy dairy, alcohol, sugar, and everything else that will leave you feeling a little run down, dehydrated, malnourished and possibly even feeling under the weather. To help combat this, I made a juice that will balance out all that bad stuff and tastes pretty sweet, so it goes down easy.
With an array of colors, this juice offers tons of different nutrients. Beets are one of the best veggies for your immune system and they help cleanse the blood. Celery is a great source of electrolytes to help rehydreate you and the ginger will help put your stomach at ease as well as help with any inflammation that may be caused by high alcohol or sugar intake. Carrots are great for your eyes and skin and they are really sweet when juiced, so they help hide the green taste of the celery and romaine.
Because of the beets, this juice has a nice rich reddish pink color so it’s also festive! I recommend making a double batch of this on the morning of Christmas eve so you have some for Christmas morning as well. Enjoy!
Christmas Detox Juice
- 2 carrots
- 2 celery stalks
- 1 small beet or half a medium sized beet
- 1 apple
- 1/4 lemon peel removed
- 6 romaine leaves
- 1 slice of ginger about the size of your thumbnail
- Core the apple and make sure to remove carrot and beet greens. Put all items in juicer. I find it helps get the most out of the ginger if you wrap it in a romaine leaf.
