06 May Mango Colada
We had quite the crazy heat wave last week in San Diego, and with summer just around the corner, I’m always looking for interesting new smoothie combos. This recipe tastes like you are sipping a frozen beverage on the beach and will help you keep that beach body! Mangoes are one of my favorite fruits ever, so this is definitely one of my go-to’s.
To make a lighter version, use coconut water…if you want something a little creamier, use coconut milk (the kind in the carton, not the canned high fat kind).
As with any smoothie, I snuck in some superfoods to really pack a nutrient-dense punch! Chia seeds are full of protein, fiber, antioxidants, and omega 3’s and minerals and will help keep you full and satisfied. They don’t have much of a flavor, but they do absorb liquids so as your smoothie sits, it may start to become thicker. It’s kinda like adding a boost of super-nutrients…yes please!
Bee pollen is also great to help fight allergies, improve energy, and help your body absorb more vitamins and minerals. Maca powder is not only full of vitamins and minerals, it has been shown to help balance your mood, promote sexual function and helps with overall energy as well. So yeah…you might feel like a superstar after drinking this goodness…
