Blueberry Immune Boosting Smoothie

Blueberry Immune Boosting Smoothie

Between the weather heating up and me trying to kick  the last of this cough that keeps lingering…smoothies have been my go-to breakfast lately.  Since I juice a lot of veggies every morning, my smoothies are usually mostly fruit, some protein/fat and as many superfood supplements as I can fit to give me energy for the day and keep me full until lunch.  This particular smoothie is high in anti-oxidants and immune boosting ingredients, but still tastes delicious of course.

I prefer the fat and protein that come from almonds and hemp seeds, but you could always use your favorite protein powder instead.  For those who haven’t used bee pollen or aloe vera juice in the past, it is usually recommended to start in small doses and see how your body reacts, then work your way up to a full serving.

If you think that bee pollen sounds like a weird thing to eat, it can actually be really beneficial to a lot of people (I eat it every day).  It’s been shown to help with allergies as it contains quercetin- an antioxidant that was proven in test tubes to prevent immune cells from releasing histamines (chemicals that cause allergic reactions).   People have also used it for more energy and to help boost their immune system.  Read more bee pollen benefits here.

Aloe juice is another great immune-system booster.  It contains a ton of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and it’s also a great natural “anti” substance.  Read more about the benefits of aloe juice here.

I’m hoping with a few more of these I can finally kick all of these respiratory issues I had after encountering a severe dust storm in the desert!
