Fennel

Fennel is one of those things that can be a little scary if you’ve never used it.  Too much of it in a juice produces a weird licorice taste…but this juice balances out the flavor with pear and orange and the ginger gives it just a little bit of bite.  Without the ginger, this is a super smooth green juice that’s great for beginners who aren’t used to a heavy green veggie taste in their juices yet.

Fennel is not only shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, but it’s also full of phytonutrients that give it a strong antioxidant activity.  In animal studies, the phytonutrient compound found in this veggie has repeatedly been shown to reduce inflammation and to help prevent the occurrence of cancer.  So basically drinking this is like giving a big FU to cancer!

Smooth Phyto-juice

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 fennel bulb with stem
  • 1 pear
  • 1 orange peeled
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 6-8 romaine leaves
  • Small slice of ginger
  • 2 mint sprigs

Instructions
 

  • Cut all ingredients so they fit in your juicer.
  • Juice and enjoy!
